Horse tight muscles therapy - myofascial release therapy

EQUINE MYOFASCIAL Release

WHAT IS FASCIA?

Fascia (also called connective tissue) is a body system that connects everything inside the body to everything else. Bones, muscles, tendons, ligaments, nerves, blood vessels, organs - from superficial elements right under the skin to organs deep within the body, all are surrounded and connected by fascia.

The largest system of the equine body, the fascia creates a fibrous web that functions to maintain the structural integrity of the entire body and facilitate movement.

This vital tissue can become tight and restricted due to many factors including acute injury, repetitive strain, trauma, inactivity, or even ill fitting gear. Restrictions can lead to pain, limited mobility, digestive/organ issues, reduced performance, and a range of behavior issues.

WHAT IS EQUINE MYOFASCIAL RELEASE -

and how can it help?

Equine myofascial release is an equine therapy technique that aims to soften the fascia, the body's connective tissue that forms a 3-dimensional web throughout the body. Myofascial release works to reduce restriction in the fascia. As an equine pain relief therapy, it helps reduce or eliminate discomfort and improve movement. It can help overall wellness by increasing circulation and decreasing inflammation. Myofascial release can assist in rehabilitation and recovery from injury or illness. It also can help address a range of specific movement, performance or behavior issues, such as:

  • Stiff and/or choppy gait

  • trouble picking up lead

  • back, pelvic or hip pain

  • misalignments

  • decreased range of motion
